Man Running from Police for a Year Apprehended

On September 20 Bay St. George RCMP were patrolling the town of Stephenville and spotted Joshua Cormier of Flat Bay, who was wanted on several arrest warrants and had been evading police and the courts for more than a year.

Cormier was wanted for charges of assault, uttering threats, disqualified driving, mischief and breaching court orders.

Upon seeing police, Cormier fled the scene and police set up a containment perimeter in the area.

RCMP Police Dog Services attended and a search of the area was conducted through several backyards and fields. Police Service Dog Axel located Cormier hiding in a wooded area along the Hansen Highway.

He was arrested without further incident.
