RCMP lay charges for impaired driving and theft in same incident


At approximately 3:20 p.m., on September 7, 2018, Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP received a call reporting a theft at a local gas station.

A patrol unit located the getaway vehicle in the community at approximately 4:25 pm. The alleged thief, a 34-year-old woman from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, was arrested without incident and is facing theft charges.

The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old male, also from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, displayed signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver subsequently provided breath samples nearly three times over the legal limit. He will face charges for operating a motor vehicle while impaired with an alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

Both individuals were later released from custody and will appear in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Provincial Court at a later date.
