A Quebec labour tribunal has agreed with an employer after a woman was not given bereavement leave for her cat.

Quebec labour law does not provide any time off work for a pet.

On the day the cat died the woman requested to work from home, a request denied by her employer.

The woman left her job shortly after finding out she was not paid for the day her cat died. She left her job claiming psychological harassment.
