Dog Left in Hot Vehicle Results in Ticket

On July 5, 2018, RCMP responded to a dog being left unattended in a hot vehicle.

The dog owner, a resident of Bay Roberts, was located and issued a ticket under the Animal Health and Protection Act.

The vehicle was towed for offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

With the onset of the warmer temperatures, Bay Roberts RCMP have responded to several complaints regarding dogs left unattended in vehicles.

They would like to remind the public of the guidelines in place under the Animal Health and Protection Act.

The police urge the public to make alternate arrangements when travelling with pets.

Ensure they are not left in closed vehicles for any length of time especially in the hottest part of the day where temperatures can become extreme in minutes.
