Officer Assaulted by Wanted Man

At 11:00 am on Thursday RNC attempted to execute a Warrant of Arrest on 33 year old male in the downtown area of St. John’s.

The accused assaulted the police officer and fled on foot.

RNC Operational Patrol Services responded and assisted the Investigators in locating the male.

The accused was aggressive and threatened the patrol officer on scene with a blunt weapon. After a short encounter the accused was successfully apprehended by the officers and charged the male for failing to attend court, assaulting a police officer, and uttering threats.

He was brought to Provincial Court in St. John’s to appear on the charges.

The injured Police Officer required medical attention, but has since been released from Hospital.
