The Harbour Grace Fire Department was called to the Ridley Offices on Thursday afternoon.

The provincial heritage structure sustained extensive damage from a grease fire.

It took several hours to bring the fire under control.

There were no injuries, however two cats were killed in the blaze.

Built around 1838 by Thomas Ridley, the Ridley Offices were the business premises of one of Harbour Grace's best-known, and most notorious, merchants.
