Government Exploring Opportunities for Marble Mountain
The Provincial Government has announced plans to enhance Marble Mountain Ski Resort as a provincial tourism asset through private sector involvement.
The Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation has issued a Request for Proposals to seek private sector interest and will accept proposals for base development, management as well as lease or sale or other potential investment opportunities for the resort.
The intention is to maximize the asset for tourism purposes and to see Marble Mountain continue to operate as a ski resort. In any agreement negotiated, government will ensure protection of the ski hill assets now and into the future.
Marble Mountain is the largest ski mountain resort in Atlantic Canada with a vertical drop of 519 metres, 64 hectares of skiable terrain, 39 runs and four lifts, which includes the only high‐speed detachable, quadruple chairlift in Atlantic Canada. Marble Mountain averages 70,000 skier visits annually.
