RNC Conduct Traffic Stop, Driver had $8000 in Outstanding Fines
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook are continuing to patrol and ensure safer streets in the community.
On June 28, 2018 at approximately 9:50 a.m. RNC Patrol Services conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Park Lane near Humber Road. During the investigation it was determined that the driver had $8000 in outstanding fines, the driver was suspended provincially from driving, the vehicle was expired, the driver failed to change ownership of vehicle in excess of one year and the vehicle was not insured. Further checks revealed that the driver was under a Canada Wide Driving Prohibition at the time.
As a result, the driver, a 29 year old male resident of Corner Brook was arrested and charged with Driving while Prohibited under the Criminal Code, he was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Driving While Suspended, Operating an Unregistered Vehicle, Operating Vehicle without an Insurance Policy in Effect and Fail to Transfer Ownership of vehicle. The vehicle was impounded by police.
The accused will appear in Provincial Court in August to answer to the charges.
