NAPE Employees Will Receive Quarter One Severance Payouts

Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board and Minister Responsible for the Human Resources Secretariat, announced that 96 per cent of NAPE employees that requested severance payouts in the first quarter will receive their payments in that period. This will represent $35.7 million in payments to 3,422 core government employees. The remaining employees that requested first quarter payments, will receive them in the second quarter.

The elimination of severance was one of the changes the Provincial Government recently introduced to compensation and benefits for NAPE employees.

When all collective agreements are complete, the Provincial Government anticipates that the elimination of severance will save government $25 million annually.
