Employers' council says sick notes from doctor necessary to stop absenteeism

A way that employers deal with unnecessary sick time is the employee obtaining a sick note. The employers; council said that sick notes should be required for someone who is sick for three or more days, this allows their manager to be able to deal with people who are taking excessive sick time and may not be sick.

At this time according to the Labour Standards Act employers are able to ask employees for obtain a sick note from a doctor or nurse practitioner when requiring three or more days off.

Right now we have no word on if the government has any plans to admin this act so sick notes would not be required, or change the many sick days in a row before requiring a sick note.
