RNC Investigating Homicide in CBS
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Major Crime Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred in Conception Bay South on Monday.
Investigators have charged 36 year Philip Butler of CBS, with Murder in the Second Degree. Butler was held in custody and appeared at Provincial Court in St. John’s on Tuesday morning.
Officers arrived at the home on Monday evening at approximately 8:10 pm.
When responding officers arrived on scene, they located a deceased adult male inside of the home.
Investigators are still at the scene of this homicide collecting evidence as well as canvasing neighbouring homes for witnesses. The accused and the victim are known to one another and police do not believe there is any danger to the public. Investigators are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death as well as to positively identify the victim.
