RNC Kept Busy With Bad Drivers on Northeast Avalon

The RNC were kept busy on the Northeast Avalon last night with several bad drivers.

At 11:40 pm, Police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Torbay Road. The 28 year old female operator initially stopped for the officer, then decided to drive away. The vehicle finally stopped some distance away at which time the female was arrested and charged with Flight from Police, two counts of Assaulting Police, Resisting Arrest and breach of Court Order. She was also issued a Summary Offence Ticket for operating a vehicle with No Insurance. She was transported to the lockup and will make a court appearance this morning. Her vehicle was impounded.

Just after midnight police initiated another traffic stop in the area of Empire Ave at which point the 20 year old male operator exited the vehicle and ran. He was arrested by the officer after a brief foot pursuit. The male was charged with Obstruction and Breach of Court order. He was also issued numerous Summary Offence Tickets which included Driving while Licence Suspended and Speeding. He was also held in custody and will make a court appearance this morning.

RNC attempted to conduct a traffic stop at 3:05 am, in the area of New Gower St at which time the operator of the vehicle refused to stop. After a couple of seconds the officer disengaged and the suspect vehicle left the area. A short time later the suspect vehicle was located along with the 25 year old female operator. She was arrested and charged with Theft of Vehicle, Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving and Resisting Arrest. She was also issued several Summary Offence Tickets. She was released from custody and will make a court appearance at a later date.
