Gatineau Police Hire More Employees Following Homicide

It has been fifteen months since a police error caused a slow response to a call about a homicide in Gatineau.

Now the force has hired more than 10 employees to join the force's emergency dispatch team.

When police received a call about a suspicious person in a neighborhood the responses was keyed as a low priority response.

When police finally did respond they found 83 year old Thérèse​ Gauvreau dead in her home. The city awarded 's family $115,000.

The dispatcher in question no longer works for the police service.
