Fewer Moose Licences This Year

The Provincial Government will be issuing fewer moose licenses this year.

For the 2018-2019 year 29,260 licences will be issued.

That number is down by 2,470 licences.

In recent years there has been a decline in the moose population on the Great Northern Peninsula and eastern sections of the Island.

Moose are found on the wooded hillsides of the rocky western mountain ranges, along the margins of ponds, lakes and rivers of the boreal forest, swamps, bogs and also on the northern tundra. They also can be found in fresh water feeding.
