A protest is underway at the Service Canada Building in Corner Brook this morning.

Members of the Qalipu First Nation will bring along those who lost their status to the protest.

The protest will get underway on 11:15 am.

There will be a similar protest in Stephenville and Ottawa.

The presence of Mi’kmaq populations living in Newfoundland was not included in the Terms of Union when Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949.

It took 60 years before recognition was achieved in 2011.
