Coast Guard Vessel Taking on Water
The Coast Guard has reported that their vessel, the CCGS Cygnus, is heading to St. John’s after taking on water.
When the rport was made the Cygnus was located 260 nautical miles east of Newfoundland.
There were no injuries and the crew is safe. The ship's pumps are keeping water out.
The Sir Wilfred Grenfell and the Atlantic Kingfisher were dispatched to assist.
CCGS Cygnus is a Cape Roger-class fisheries patrol vessel of the Canadian Coast Guard. The ship entered service in 1981 and is used to monitor the fisheries along the Atlantic coast of Canada.
