Kent Hehr Resigns from Federal Cabinet amid allegations of sexual misconduct.


The Minister of Sport and Disabilities Kent Hehr has resigned from cabinet amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement, saying he had accepted Hehr's resignation.

Trudeau said that he had not yet spoken to Hehr.

The resignation comes from allegations of sexual misconduct made on social media.

Women were fearful about being in the same elevator with Hehr at the Alberta Legislature. Hehr has also allegedly made sexually suggestive comments.

Kirsty Duncan, the Minister of Science will take over the sport and disabilities portfolio.

Previsouly Hehr was involved in provincial politics in Alberta. He was also the federal minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.
