RNC Make Arrest in Pharmacy Break and Entry
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has made an arrest in relation to a break and entry at Dominion Pharmacy on Blackmarsh Road on New Year’s Day.
On Monday, January 1, 2018 at approximately 6:20am, the RNC responded to an alarm call at Dominion on Blackmarsh Road. On arrival, officers discovered a large hole in the pharmacy wall. Through the course of the investigation it was determined that the persons(s) responsible for this break and enter, stole a backhoe from the Piper’s Department Store parking lot on Elizabeth Ave and forced entry into the pharmacy using the stolen backhoe. A large quantity of medications including narcotics was taken during this break and entry.
On Friday, January 5, 2018, officers with the RNC’s General Investigation Unit arrested 39 year old St. John’s man Darryl Denief in connection with this break and entry. He was charged with Theft over $5000 and Break and Enter. DENIEF was released from custody and will appear at Provincial Court in St. John’s on February 14, 2018. This investigation remains ongoing and investigators believe that other persons may have been involved in the commission of these offences.
