Many Spent Boxing Day in the Dark #nlwx #nltraffic
Many people across Newfoundland spent at least part of boxing day in the dark.
It all started when blustery winds roared onshore on the west coast last night, knocking out power for many. By morning the number of outages were not only confined to the southwest coast, but had expanded to the Great Northern Peninsula.
By afternoon a massive outage struck along the North East Avalon and Southern Shore. Portions of St. John’s, CBS and Mount Pearl were left in the dark for hours.
While most of the outages were cause bu wind damage, the outage on the Avalon was caused by a trip at Molloy's Lane Substation in St. John's.
