Mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay In Critical Condition After Hunting Accident


John Hickey, the Mayor of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, is in critical condition after a hunting accident on Saturday.

The Deputy Mayor of of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Wally Andersen says the Mayor is currently at the Labrador Health Centre in stable condition.

There are no further details at this time.

Hickey has served the citizens of Happy Valley-Goose Bay for 16 years as Mayor, Deputy Mayor and councilor.

Hickey was elected as the Member to the House of Assembly for the district of Lake Melville in 2003 and served until 2011. He was also the Minister of Transportation and Works and Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs.
