$2.3 Million in Funding for Infrastructure on Northern Peninsula #nlpoli

The Provincial Government is investing over $2.3 million for infrastructure projects in Flower’s Cove, Anchor Point, and the surrounding region.

Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, was joined for the announcements on Saturday, by the Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation and MHA for St. Barbe - L’Anse aux Meadows.

Minister’s Joyce and Mitchelmore announced that under the new three year, $100 million provincial Municipal Capital Works program, the following projects will be supported:

The NorPen Regional Service Board will receive funding to construct a new fire hall in Flower’s Cove to service 13 communities in the region. The total cost will be over $3 million, with a provincial contribution of over $1.9 million and a share from the board of approximately $825,000.

The Town of Anchor Point will receive a provincial contribution of $170,000 for road paving, with a municipal share of approximately $170,000.

Joining the ministers was Gudie Hutchings, MP for Long Range Mountains, who announced funding under the Small Communities Fund for the main waterline upgrades and street paving in Flower’s Cove. The Town of Flower’s Cove is receiving a provincial contribution of over $300,000 and a federal contribution of up to approximately $300,000. The municipal share is approximately $600,000.
