Provincial Government Continues to Support Women’s Film Festival

The Provincial Government has provided a combined investment of $85,000 for this year’s St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival including support for the Interactive Film Forum.

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will attend the festival’s 28thannual opening gala tonight (Wednesday, October 18) at Scotiabank Theatre, St. John’s. The opening film is titled Suck it Up.

The St. John’s Women’s Film Festival is one of the longest running women’s film festivals in the world. It attracts over 4,000 participants and receives almost 500 film submissions annually.

Since 1997, the total production activity in Newfoundland and Labrador has been over $350 million, which has leveraged over $250 million in new money in the province.
