The Town of Deer Lake is warning residents to be careful after sightings of a Black Panther.

The animal was spotted on Glide Brook Road.

Linda Roberts and Tammy Beck were walking on the road on Sunday, Oct. 1, when they spotted the black cat.

Linda reported the incident to the wildlife division.

She described the panther as having “rounded ears, a muscular cat body and a very long, thick rope-like black curled tail.” This wasn’t Linda’s first encounter with a panther, as she and her husband Wayne saw one on the Pynn’s Brook road in early September.
