The Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada are investing more than $574,000 in three initiatives in Labrador West to improve recreational facilities, support a popular winter tourism event and to assist various business support activities, including the Labrador MINEx symposium.
Graham Letto, Parliamentary Secretary for Natural Resources and MHA for Labrador West, on behalf of the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, announced more than $253,000 on behalf of the province. Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced more than $321,000 for the three projects on behalf of the Federal Government.
The funding will support the Menihek Nordic Ski Club Association, Cain's Quest Inc. and the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce. Residents and business owners stand to benefit from these investments as they help strengthen some of the region’s winter sporting and tourism attractions as well as improve the region’s overall business climate.
