Government Increases Personal Care Home Subsidies #nlpoli

The Provincial Government has increased the base monthly subsidy rate it provides to personal care home operators by $80 for each subsidized resident. This increase brings the total monthly subsidy up to $2,375 per person. It is the third increase in three years for a total additional investment of $16.3 million.

The monthly subsidy covers the cost of care and accommodations for individuals who require assistance with the activities of daily living. The reason for the increases reflects the rising costs of providing quality care in personal care homes.

More than 3,200 seniors and older adults live in personal care homes in communities across the province.
