Cell Phone Outage a "Wake up Call"

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services calls yesterdays cell phone outage a wake-up call.

President Duane Antle says we must be prepared for this type of event.

Yesterday we saw a major telephone outage that affected most of Atlantic Canada. Bell and Telus along with Virgin, and Koodo customers are the hardest hit.

This has impacted 911 service as well.

TV and internet services are also being affected.

Firefighters have become very dependent on their cell phones, but further work is necessary.
