What Does a Generator, a Sweatshirt, and Two People Have in Common?

A bit of an unusual call to police, but early this morning around 1:00 am RNC responded to a report of two males stealing a generator from a construction site at Cape Spear National Historic Park.

Police were quick to locate a car on Pitts Memorial Drive with a generator held in the trunk with a sweatshirt.

The two male occupants now face the following charges.

The first a 24-year-old is charged with Public Mischief for providing a false name to Police and with possession of stolen property. The male, who was also the driver, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act for No Insurance and driving with a Suspended License. The vehicle in question was impounded and the man’s dog, which was in the vehicle, was turned over to animal control.

The second male, a 25-year-old is charged with Public Mischief for providing a false name to police, possession of stolen property and 11 breaches of Court Orders. The man was also wanted on an outstanding Warrant.

Both men were held to appear in court this morning.
