K9 Helps Apprehend Suspect
RNC responded to a report of Attempted Theft at a Kenmount Rd area car dealership. Information on the suspect vehicle was provided by a citizen who observed the incident. A subsequent complaint of a Break and Entry at an east end St John’s residence was received involving the same suspect vehicle.
The residents were at home at the time and the two suspects were armed with an axe and a hammer. Both suspects had fled the scene in the same suspect vehicle, prior to police arrival, and no injuries had resulted to the victims.
Police then located the suspect vehicle in a west end St John’s neighborhood. Both suspects fled from the vehicle on foot and patrol officers apprehended a 20 year old male resident of St John’s a short distance from the suspect vehicle.
Sgt Russell Moores and his Police Service Dog “Dyson” tracked the second suspect for approximately three kilometers and apprehended the second, 30 year old male resident of St. John’s, who also had an outstanding warrant of arrest. Both individuals are charged with Robbery, Possession of Weapons Dangerous to the Public, Break and Entry, and Breach of Court Orders.
