Police have located a 76 year old male driver who they say is responsible for striking a bicycle with his car.

Around 8:15 pm yesterday evening RNC responded to a Motor vehicle collision in the center of St. John's involving a car where the driver had left the scene.

When police located him at his residence; he was believed to be under the influence and was detained for the “breathalyzer”.

As a result a seven day suspension was issued and the driver’s license was seized, a number of summary offence tickets were also issued under the Highway Traffic act for failing to provide his name and proof of insurance at the accident scene.

The driver of the bicycle was treated at hospital for minor injuries.
