Hourly Wage Increase for Job Trainers #nlpoli

The Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, Gerry Byrne has announced an increase in the hourly wage for Job Trainers.

With $1 million in federal-provincial funding, the Provincial Government has raised the hourly wage for Job Trainers from $12.25 to $14.80. A further increase to $15.55 per hour will come into effect on July 1, 2017.

This brings the rate in line with similar occupations and raises combined federal-provincial funding for the Supported Employment Program to $7.8 million.

Job Trainers provide one-on-one support to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with intellectual disabilities through the Supported Employment Program. This program is delivered through 18 community employment agencies throughout the province and helps participants secure and maintain meaningful, integrated employment that enables them to more fully participate in their communities.
