Fisherman on the Northern Peninsula have been illegally setting out fishing equipment off the coast in protest.

As many as nine crab boats from the province took part in the protest.

According to Ryan Cleary, "local fishermen say as many as 40 boats from Quebec are permitted to fish in the crab-rich waters immediately off Port au Choix." However local fisherman are to head 30 miles away to another area.

The Canadian Coast Guard is in the area.
