CFSEU-NL Make Drug Trafficking Arrest in St. John’s
On Friday, April 28, 2017 at approximately 11:00pm, members of the CFSEU-NL conducted a traffic stop in the east end of St. John’s resulting in the arrest of two men, Justin Hopkins (33 years of age) and James Lucas (40 years of age) of St. John’s for trafficking in a controlled substance.
Subsequent to that stop, officers seized a quantity of cocaine, Canadian currency and impounded the vehicle.
On Saturday, April 29, 2017, CFSEU-NL officers obtained search warrants for the impounded vehicle and a residence on Beauford Place in relation to the traffic stop. Officers seized a quantity of drugs and other items often used in the trafficking of illicit drugs during their searches.
Samples of drugs seized as part of this investigation were sent to Health Canada for testing. The samples tested positive for Cocaine, Heroin and Fentanyl.
CFSEU-NL is again warning the public that coming into contact with Fentanyl could be lead to death. If you believe you may have come in contact with Fentanyl you should call 911 immediately.
