Liberals Looking to Break Deadlock Over Parliamentary Reform #cndpoli

The Federal Liberals are looking to break a deadlock over parliamentary reform.

The Government appears prepared to make substantive changes to the way the House of Commons works. And they will do it with or without the support of the opposition.

The government will introduce a motion in the House of Commons that includes items promised in the last Liberal campaign platform.

Back during the election campaign the Liberals were proposing a session of question period where there would be questions for the prime minister. Give the Speaker the power to sanction Members during Question Period and allow more time for questions and answers. Change the Standing Orders on omnibus legislation.

The government has already proposed a new procedure for proroguing Parliament.

The motion is to be introduced before the House adjourns for the summer in June.
