An update on the motorcycle caught driving 200 km/h.
The RNC Traffic Services has determined that at the time of the original offences, the motorcycle did not have a valid insurance policy and an additional charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, under the Highway Traffic Act, is pending against the Operator.
On 20170411 at approximately 2:00 PM, RNC Traffic Services attempted to stop a motorcycle being operated on the Trans-Canada Highway (Out Ring Road) in the area of Allendale Rd for speeding in excess of 150 km/h.
The motorcycle failed to stop when the officer activated their emergency equipment and accelerated to speed in excess of 200 km/h for a short distance and weaved around traffic before the presence of heavy traffic blocked the path of the motorcycle. The operator was apprehended and charged with Dangerous Driving and Flight from Police under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The vehicle was impounded and the operator was released to appear at Provincial Court on May 5. Any witnesses to this incident are asked to contact the RNC.
