Witnesses on scene say that a male suspect had extensively damaged a parked vehicle with a carpenter’s hammer.

The vehicle was located and damage consisted of a broken side window and multiple dents from blows with the hammer.

Follow-up investigation by interviewing multiple witnesses and examination by the Forensic Identification Section, resulted in the arrest of a 20 year old male resident of St John’s, for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Mischief – Damaging Property, Causing a Disturbance, and Breach of multiple Court Orders.

It was determined that an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for the individual also existed, for Failing To Appear at Provincial Court on an unrelated matter. The individual was held in custody, scheduled to appear at Provincial Court this morning.
