Spring Storm Pounds Parts of NL #nlwx
An area of low pressure will push across the Island over the next couple of days.
Snow has already started across most of southern Newfoundland and most of the Avalon. Many schools have closed.
On the Avalon, snow will change over to ice pellets and then to rain. There is a risk of freezing rain. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected by this evening.
Along the south coast, it will be a similar story. However significant rainfall amounts of 20 to 25 mm can be expected tonight through Tuesday night.
Central will mostly remain as snow. In the Clarenville area precipitation may change over to ice pellets.
The west coast and Northern Peninsula will escape the severe weather today. Tomorrow however will be a different story...
Snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and rain is likely before all is said and done on Tuesday. Some parts of the west coast could end up seeing 20 cm snow.
