RNC Lay Charges in Aggravated Assault Investigation
The RNC Major Crime Unit has laid charges in relation to an aggravated assault investigation from Wednesday night.
At approximately 12:00 am on Thursday, March 16, 2017 members of the RNC Patrol Services Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services responded to a report of an assault in progress in the area of Empire Avenue in St. John’s.
A 35 year old St. John’s man was the victim of this assault. He had left the area prior to police arrival but was located shortly after by Police Dog Services. The male had sustained serious injuries as a result of being assaulted with a weapon. He was transported to hospital by Eastern Health Paramedics where he remains at this time.
As a result of the investigation the RNC has charged Cathy Snow, a 39 year old resident of St. John’s, with aggravated assault. It is believed that the victim and the accused were known to one another.
