5,000 Still Without Power

At peak there were 70,000 customers without electricity.

That number has dwindled to 5,000.

Newfoundland Power had to call in crews from central and western Newfoundland to assist in the restoration.

Crews are working to repair the two downed structures on the transmission line to the Burin Peninsula. Based on the extent of repairs needed, the estimated restoration time for customers in the region is this evening at 8 p.m.

A total of 15 poles were brought down along with countless power lines.

A structure in the Trepassey area completely collapsed.

It may be tomorrow before it’s repaired.
