Man and woman arrested for drug offences
RCMP in Deer Lake conducted an investigation into drug trafficking in the Deer Lake area. A traffic stop was performed near Deer Lake and as a result, a 56-year-old Nova Scotia man and a 33-year-old woman from this province were arrested. The man has known ties to outlaw motorcycle gangs. A search of the vehicle was conducted with the assistance of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Police Service Dog. Officers seized and removed 2032 doses of Cocaine and 285 joints of Marihuana from the street. In addition, a quantity of Hashish, and Crystal Meth were also located. The man has been remanded into custody until February 15, 2017 while the woman was released to appear in court at a later date. They are facing charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including multiple counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
