RNC Charge Man with Assaulting a Police Officer #nltraffic
RNC arrested a man following a confrontation at a traffic stop on Pitts Memorial Drive Wednesday afternoon. An off duty police officer observed a vehicle travelling east on Pitts Memorial Drive at a high rate of speed and contacted RNC’s Communication Center to have a patrol unit dispatched. Moments later an officer with RNC Patrol Services Division located the vehicle and initiated traffic stop on Pitts Memorial Drive. During the stop, the 53 year old CBS man who was driving the vehicle is alleged to have been uncooperative and refused to comply with requests made by the officer. The man is alleged to have gotten out of his vehicle and confronted the officer where he is alleged to have continued to refuse to comply with the officer’s instructions and became combative toward the officer. The man was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Police officer, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Justice. He was held at the St. John’s City Lockup and will appear at Provincial Court this morning.
