Man Steals Car & Briefly Eludes Police #nltraffic

Around 4:00 pm yesterday afternoon RNC Officers attempted to conduct a traffic safety stop on a vehicle in the Centre City area of St. John’s.

After a short chase the vehicle stopped and the driver fled on foot.

Soon after police located the 44 year old male driver and arrested him without incident.

The vehicle that was used was a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

As a result the male was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from Police, two counts of theft under $5000 and several breaches of Court Orders.

The male was taken to St. John’s City Lock-up to appear in Court this morning.
