RNC Lays Attempted Murder Charge #nltraffic

The RNC Major Crime Unit has laid additional charges of Attempted Murder and Uttering Threats in relation to a late September motor vehicle collision investigation. On Saturday, September 24, 2016 just before 9:00pm, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle-pedestrian accident on Bartlett Place in St. John’s. Three pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle and were conveyed to hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries. At that time, the [then] 21 year old male driver was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Assault with a weapon. Following further investigation that occurred in the months since the incident, investigators with the RNC Major Crime Unit laid additional charges of Attempted Murder and Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death against that driver. The driver in that incident, 22 year old Mount Pearl man David Loveys, was charged yesterday morning.
