Snow, Freezing Rain, & Rain Continue Today #nlwx


A very significant storm is impacting the province. Winds have diminished for most areas.

On the Avalon there are power outages for St. Thomas Line, Adam's Pond, Summit Drive. In the Stephenville - Port aux Basques area, Point Au Mal, Port Au Port East, Margaree, Marine Atlantic Terminal, and Barachois Brook are all without power. Burgeo, Harbour Breton, and English Harbour are also without power.

Several schools across the province are closed also.

On the Avalon rain with the risk of freezing rain. Rainfall amounts 15 to 25 mm of rain possible today and tomorrow.

Central freezing rain will change to rain this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 mm is expected. South Coast rain will end this afternoon. At 12:30 am there was a peak wind gust in Wreckhouse of 150 km/h.

West freezing rain or rain will change to rain mixed with snow this morning.

Northern Peninsula heavy snow with 15 to 30 cm expected today and tomorrow.

Labrador heavy snow with 15 to 30 cm expected. Except in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and surrounding areas where 30 to 40 cm is possible. Expect strong wind and blowing snow.

Conditions in Newfoundland will improve on Thursday afternoon. However, another system will deliver rain and snow to the Island on Friday.
