The entire province is under a special weather statement and there is a wind warning in effect for Bay St. George, Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity, and Corner Brook and vicinity. There is also a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity as Newfoundland and Labrador prepares for another showdown with winter.
Wednesday into Thursday the province will see ice pellets or freezing rain, with the most severe freezing rain expected in Western and Central Newfoundland. Amounts may be significant with 5 to 10 mm of freezing rain and 5 to 10 cm of snow and ice pellets expected.
On the Great Northern Peninsula, precipitation will likely remain as snow or ice pellets. Amounts of 20 to 35 cm are possible.
For the Avalon, freezing rain will begin on Thursday morning before changing to rain. 15 to 20 mm is possible.
Along the west coast, we will see gusty wind also, with gusts up to 110 km/h possible.
In Labrador, 15 cm of snow is expected on Thursday or Friday.
