13 year old charged after two armed robberies in St. John's

The RNC has arrested a 13-year-old male from St. John’s in connection with two robberies.
Just after midnight on Tuesday police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a gas station located on Portugal Cove Road.
A male entered the business and presented a weapon while demanding cigarettes. The suspect proceeded to take other merchandise from the store before fleeing on foot.
A short time later there was a second report of robbery from a gas station located on Newfoundland Drive.
Officers were informed that a male suspect had entered the store demanding cigarettes while uttering threats. The male fled that location on foot with merchandise from the store.
The male suspect was located at a residence a short distance from the area of the robbery.
The accused has been charged with robbery and failure to comply with a court order in connection with each event.
The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
