11 New Cases of COVID-19 in NL


There are now 35 presumptive positive and confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador.


All 11 new cases announced today are in the Eastern Health region and are all related.


Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Chief Medical Officer of Health says, "If you are sick, stay home."


1,131 people have been tested and 1,096 of those tests have come back negative.


Premier Dwight Ball said that for those feeling anxious or dealing with mental health issues can visit Bridge the gApp or call Mental Health Crisis Line at 1-888-737-4668 in an emergency.


Ball also mentioned the COVID-19 self-assessment tool on the government's website.


Premier calls people who are not self-isolating "reckless" and it is not just young people breaking the rules. "You do not have the right to jeopardize others."


Minister John Haggie says that all non-essential health workers have been sent home.


According to Minister Haggie, acute occupancy hospital beds is only at 62 percent capacity, the ICU beds across the province is only at 54 percent, The ventilator capacity is at 13 percent.


A total of 356 complaints have been received of people not complying with self-isolation orders. 38 have been concluded, 127 were groundless. The RNC and RCMP are following up with complaints.
