The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is advising the public of a road closure along Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive also known as the Southern Shore Highway. The closure in the area of Bay Bulls Big Pond is due to a collision involving a dump truck. The highway is expected to be closed in both directions for several hours. Please avoid the area. Those travelling to and from the Southern Shore are advised to use Witless Bay Line.

Scam parking ticket fines circulating in St. John's
There is a phishing scam currently circulating in St. John's that involves fraudulent fines for city parking tickets. In this new scam, scammers have been contacting individuals via text message, claiming to be from the City and requesting payment for parking tickets. The message includes a link to a website mimicking a City webpage. The fraudulent site has a “Pay Now” button and demands unusually high payment amounts. Police catch 19-year-old man after chase that ended in RNC parking lot
At around 3:45 a.m. on October 20, 2025 police spotted a wanted male walking in the downtown area. Police officers pursued the male on foot across multiple streets and he eventually ran to the RNC parking lot where he stopped to catch his breath. Additional police officers were waiting and took the male into custody. The 19-year-old male was conveyed to the St. John’s city lockup.

Driver sent to hospital after vehicle halts just feet from a ponds edge in St. John’s on Sunday
At least one person was sent to hospital after there vehicle came to a stop just feet from the waters edge in St. John’s on Sunday. Emergency personnel responded to Long Pond near the intersection to Allandale Road and Prince Philip Drive just before 4:20 p.m. on Sunday for reports of a single vehicle collision.
