Woman killed in moose collision east of South Brook
Police say that a 24-year-old woman is deceased after a motor vehicle collision with a moose on the Trans-Canada Highway east of South Brook early this morning.
Police were called to the area before 1:00 a.m. this morning. A small passenger car carrying five occupants had collided with a moose.
The vehicle lost control after the collision and departed the road over a steep embankment.
The woman, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. The driver received life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre. Occupants in the back of the vehicle received minor injuries.
The moose died on impact.
The investigation is ongoing.
