Woman carrying an axe in St. John's arrested

A 24-year-old female has been arrested after an incident involving an axe near the Colonial Building in St. John's.

Several RNC officers responded to the scene on Tuesday afternoon and spoke to witnesses who indicated that a female was in the area brandishing an axe and threatening people.

Officers woman was located and was subsequently arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, resisting arrest, and mischief.

The female was held for court in the morning.
