The RCMP arrested 33-year-old Lewis George Hedley Sooley after executing a pair of search warrants that resulted in the recovery of evidence tied to at least three break-and-enters.
As a result of an investigation into a break and enter, the RCMP located the suspect vehicle in the community of Heart’s Delight. A search warrant was granted and executed on the vehicle, which had been seized by investigators. Evidence obtained during the search tied the vehicle to a commercial break-and-enter and identified a suspect.
On Tuesday, police executed a second search warrant at a property on Main Road in Heart’s Delight. Evidence recovered from the home was also linked to additional offences, including at least two other break-and-enters in the area.
During the execution of the search warrant, Sooley was taken into police custody without incident.
He faces charges including break and enter at Pitcher’s Take-out and Bakery in New Harbour, break and enter with intent to commit a criminal offence at the Needs Shell gas station in Green’s Harbour and two counts for failing to comply with a Release Order.
Sooley was remanded into custody until his next court date later this month.
The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are anticipated.
